I have over 20 years of experience of working with children, young people and stressed-out and anxious parents.
After completing my Psychology degree (where I specialized in child development and education) I spent a number of years in the Youth Service, providing one-to-one emotional and practical support to young people and their families who were undergoing a wide range of difficulties in their lives, which gave me a great deal of insight into the issues young people face. This inspired me to want to work with children and young people, which I have done in various capacities over the last 20 years.
I have worked in nurseries, schools, cub scout groups and clubs as well as offering care for children in my own home, so have a great deal of experience of working with younger age groups and their parents. I am also a mum of two grown-up lads, so I am particularly understanding of the stresses and strains which both young people and parents face.
Why did I become a therapist?
Coming from a background in psychology, I have always been interested in everything related to the brain. But I mainly decided to become a therapist because I wanted to support people who were struggling with anxiety, after experiencing it myself a number of years ago. I had many of the typical physical symptoms, behaviours and thought patterns that clients often come to me with. I know only too well how confusing and limiting it can be to live with anxiety in your life, so I want to show people that there is a way to make significant and long-lasting change.
My clients find it reassuring to work with a therapist who really understands what they are experiencing.
Having overcome my own experience of anxiety, I know that it is entirely possible to make big changes to the way your brain naturally works. You absolutely can be the best version of you, living a life that is happy and fulfilling.
If you would like to work with someone who is kind, caring and empathic, who understands what you are going through and can motivate you to make the changes you want to make to your thoughts, feelings or behaviour – I might be the right fit for you. My aim is for all clients to leave each session feeling happier, calmer and motivated to make and achieve significant changes in their lives.
I must be doing something right, because my clients tell me that the sessions are interesting, fun, uplifting, enjoyable and above all – effective!

What People Say
Here are some of the kind words that people have had to say about how I have helped them become the best version of themselves
Katie
Esme has such an enthusiastic and engaging manner and I found her easy to talk to, empathetic and non judgmental. I found the variety of tools used to explain how the brain works and how hypnotherapy can help were clear and easy to understand and gave me confidence about going into trance.
Over the weeks I have noticed an improvement in my mood and that I am feeling more positive and empowered. I would happily recommend her to others.

Hypnotherapy has been life changing for me. I can’t believe how much I got from it. Esme is very calming and you feel safe and at ease with her.
It has taught me ways to believe in myself, and to try new things that I would not of had the confidence to do before.
Nathan
Thank you for the session yesterday. After it, I really just wanted to express my gratitude for what you’ve done with me so far. I’m still feeling good and have already dealt with a potentially stressful situation today in a way I wouldn’t have been able to beforehand. I know we’re not fully there yet but I never could have imagined even the change that has occurred to date! I have to be honest, I’m a little in awe of you and what you’ve done to me! It’s amazing and almost like you have magical powers!

I approached Esme having had problems with my weight. It had spiralled upwards over the previous ten years and had become completely unmanageable during lockdown. I had become addicted to food, eating multi-packs of crisps and chocolate by the ‘boat load’, all in one day. I couldn’t see a way of escaping it but then found Esme’s page on Facebook. She offered a free trial session in helping with the psychology of many problems people experience, including weight loss, so I didn’t see that I had anything to lose and contacted her. I knew Esme already but hadn’t seen her in years. I remembered her as friendly and sympathetic and that was exactly what she was. She explained that what she does isn’t hypnosis as most people understand it, with a stage show and people being mesmerised into undertaking humiliating activities, rather it was more to do with retraining the brain to think in a more positive way. Over the course of a few months, with Esme’s support, I have gradually found myself able to leave the junk food behind, have a more healthy relationship with food, find a more positive attitude towards life and, as an added bonus, I’ve taken up exercise again for the first time in a while! I can’t recommend her services highly enough and she’s turned my life around.

I started with Esme for multiple reasons. These included some big life changes both health and livelihood related, along with years of sustained stress and unhealthy coping strategies. I really knew I couldn’t reach my full potential without some more structured support.
What most stood out from day one is that I left the sessions feeling much lighter than when I started. This was regardless of what was discussed or how I felt turning up. I also gained much more knowledge about how the mind works and therefore how I personally can understand certain situations/reactions/behaviours to make changes for the better.
I finally have learnt the importance of putting myself first and how to overcome any anxieties. I look forward to every session as it starts my week off with that 1 hour allocated to being the best me. I have a renewed zest for life and have probably achieved more in the last 3 months than the previous 5 years. I have a much calmer and controlled existence and it is just great !

Having smoked 30 or more cigarettes every day for the last 35 years, and having tried unsuccessfully to give up several times over that period, I didn’t really expect to manage this time.
However, Esme was amazing, very calm and empathetic and I haven’t had a smoke since my session. The CD she gave me was immensely helpful, too, allowing me to reach back to the session whenever I needed. I cannot thank her enough.
Andrea
Esme was very calming and made sure I was educated on hypnotherapy before we began our work together. I am far less afraid of needles now than before I went to her! I would recommend her to anyone who would like to gain more control over their fears.
Natalie
I have had a phobia of deep water and fish since I was a small child (I am now 45!). I have tried many times to overcome this but have never been successful… until I tried Hypnotherapy with Esme.
Esme worked wonders by helping me understand how my brain works and used hypnotherapy techniques to overcome this deep fear and phobia – it has worked! This is life changing!
Esme is calm, logical and sensitive. I would recommend her without hesitation- she has changed my life for the better.
Patricia
Hypnotherapy with Esme was a fascinating and enlightening journey. Her professionalism and interest were apparent throughout.
I believe that the changes Esme has helped me make to myself and my approach to life will remain with me forever.
